To capture this beauty way into the night, strategically placed lights light up the garden.

After the service the couple may wonder into our paradise garden for their photo session. The variety of breathtaking scenes, interesting features will give you the opportunity to have a range of unique photographs to keep as mementoes of this important day.

During the photo session the guests are invited to have a pre-arranged Inkwenkwezi Game Reserve welcoming drink. While the tranquil sound of running water relaxes the guest and their chatter carries through the garden as you are being photographed.

Our beautiful, well-designed and equipped bar is operated as per your instructions. We offer a Cash Bar or a Tab Bar. We however require you to hand in your Tab Bar requirements prior to your special day.

Our kitchen will cater accordingly to your requirements and only the finest and freshest ingredients are used. On our buffet, more than generous portions are served. We include to this letter options for you to choose your buffet menu. The MC invites the bridal table and then each table for their turn at the buffet.

Nooitgedacht is a family owned and managed historical Cape Dutch wine estate with a homestead and outbuildings that date back to 1774. Welcoming guests with old worldly charm, warmth and history.

The original cellar with its rustic atmosphere is used for the functions and can accommodate 120-260 guests with a dance floor and 300 without. Adjacent the cellar we have a faunum/chapel for the ceremony which can accommodate 170 guests or the bride may prefer the ceremony in our beautiful gardens. Nooitgedacht is 4 km outside of Stellenbosch on the R 304, also known as the Koelenhof Road.

The Wirth family together with Stephanies Weddings pride themselves in that a personal touch can be found in every aspect of Nooitgedacht’s service with menus and other important details tailored to suit your personal needs in making your function a unique and special occasion.

A distinctive feature of Nooitgedacht’s menu is the use of fresh produce that is in season and the special deboned leg of lamb on the spit. The starters can be served outside as finger-food together with drinks, or served at the tables. The main course is served buffet style with two or three serving points determined by the amount of people. Plated option is also available. Dessert can also be buffet style or served at the tables. Coffee is served afterwards.

At Zinkwazi we try to let you experience the magic of our unique environment as closely as possible. You are constantly surrounded by the amazing bird song of the tropical forest, the tranquility of a great variety of palms along the calm waters of the magnificent lagoon, the constant roar of the Indian Ocean surf in the background. Our balmy, subtropical climate encourages an open air, ‘alfresco’ lifestyle.

This theme is carried over in the design of our accommodation, with an emphasis on natural and African materials, reflecting the colours and moods of our environment. All 26 rooms and suites are scattered in the extensive grounds amongst tropical trees and palms. Many have lovely lagoon views. All rooms come with double or twin beds and 17 have en-suite bathrooms. They are equipped with ceiling fans, TV’s and covered patios, and are designed to maximise the outdoor experience. Our private suites and family lodges also have their own lounges and at least 2 en-suite bedrooms.

Only 80 kilometers from the cosmopolitan metropolis of DURBAN, on the NORTH COAST of KWAZULU-NATAL, lies the beautiful lagoon and beach conservancy of ZINKWAZI. Part of the scenic DOLPHIN COAST with its famous beaches and centre of the INDIAN culture, it is also located on the historical KING SHAKA ROUTE and the start of the ZULULAND BIRDING ROUTE, a gateway to the splendid game reserves, world heritage sites, cultural attractions and spectacular historical sites of the ZULU KINGDOM.

Venues

The main CONFERENCE ROOM comfortably caters for up to 40 delegates ‘class room style’, but other configurations can easily be arranged. There is an adjoining BOARD ROOM suitable for up to 16 delegates around one table. Free WiFi Hotspot at these two venues for your communication needs.

The chalet lounges with their covered patios are ideal as BREAKAWAY ROOMS for up to 10 delegates each.

For informal get-togethers there is also an OPEN SIDED HALL overlooking the pool area, suitable for up to 40 delegates.

Our venues can be equipped with flip chart, VCR and monitor. Other requirements can be arranged.

Catering

All catering is arranged by the on-site RAFFIA RESTAURANT, which serves a la carte, but also does set menus, function dinners, outside braais, and function cruises on the lagoon. Individual requirements can be arranged. The Raffia also runs the ISIFONYA PUB & SUNDECK, a conducive place for delegates to get to know each other. The BOMA IN THE JUNGLE is the ideal venue for intimate group dinners and building team spirit.

Zinkwazi is the ideal venue for team building. We specialize in hosting small and intimate workshops, seminars and conferences. We cater for full board, special functions and events. Set in the subtropical forest, on the magnificent lagoon and surrounded by birds, there are no outside facilities to distract delegates. Special events can be organized to facilitate the tropical ‘bush’ experience, e.g. sundowner cruises on the lagoon, canoe trails, beach or forest hikes, bird watching trails, marine excursions to see the wildlife, game fishing trips, also ‘on location’ talks about beach ecology or battlefields.

More specialized and daring adventures such as ‘paintball’ and similar team building activities can also be arranged.

How to get there

From the N3 take a scenic shortcut from Colenso or MooiRiver or Pietermaritzburg through Greytown and Stanger to meet the N2 going north from Durban. Head north on the N2.

From the North you could also travel a very scenic route via Vryheid, Melmoth, Eshowe. Meet the N2 at Gingindlovu and head south. Alternatively follow the N2 south from Pongola and Jozini.

If you’re only interested in the fastest way to get there, keep going through Pietermaritzburg on the N3. Don’t worry about the large number of fellow travellers heading for Zinkwazi, some will actually turn off to Durban. Take the toll road bypassing Hillcrest and Pinetown and peel off onto the N2 just past the Pavilion Shopping centre. Head north.

The N2 dual lane highway (between Durban and Mtunzini) enables easy access to Zinkwazi. Once on the N2 pass Stanger (or cross the Tugela from the north) and then you’ll be looking for the ZINKWAZI exit. At this point you’re almost there. This is the 245 Crossing. Take the glide off, cross the flyover bridge (if you’re coming from Durban) and a couple of k’s along you’re in Zinkwazi village. KEEP LEFT and follow the large brown road signs with Resort facility symbols.

History

From January 2004 we started working on renovating the old dairy barn on Oranje. On the 8th of June 2004 we had our first wedding and on the 26th of June we had our official opening with a pudding and port evening! The barn is installed with a kitchen, a serving area, bar, dance area and toilets.

This sandstone venue can accommodate up to 220 guests depending on the dance space required. Along with a beautiful sandstone church, wide open sliding doors, surrounded by mountains and tranquil breezes of fresh mountain air. You will be delighted to share the moment of “I do” with your guests. You as bride also have the choice of getting married in the garden or in the forest.

We assist you with:

-The wine list and supply of the wines, port and sherry.

– The flowers, colour scheme and theme of the occasion are discussed and executed according to your personal taste and request by our experienced team of decorators.

– Our menus are varied – from typical South African to International exotic. Every menu is planned according to the exact requirements of our guests. Prices are quoted per head.

– The venue includes catering, waiters, ice & barman plus overnight accommodation in the homestead for 23 people, including the bridal suite.

The new “Honeymoon-suite” is something to see that cannot be captured on a photo. It is completely separate from the other guests and the bride is thus also completely private when she has her dress up for her special day!
