Bonamanzi Game Reserve is located in the heart of Zululand, on the outskirts of Hluhluwe. A scenic two-and a half hour drive from Durban International Airport.

Access to our self contained Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary is extremely easy with good tarred roads and only a small section of dirt road which will take visitors to the entrance of Bonamanzi.

The N2 highway which is only 6 km from the entrance of Bonamanzi accords visitors easy access to Empangeni (98km), Mkuze(62km), Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve (22km), Charters Creek (37km), Cape Vidal (100km) and Sodwana Bay (106km)

Whether you want a bush-style reception or a smarter affair in our Lalapanzi Restaurant, Bonamanzi will cater for your needs. Wedding couples can exchange vows in a charming thatched viewing lounge or on a picturesque island over looking a waterhole. Bonamanzi’s natural canvas offers exquisite back drops for photographs and newly weds can honeymoon in a romantic tree house in solitude.

Ndlovu Venue

Ndlovu means “elephant” in Zulu.  Majestic like this African creature is the architecture of the Ndlovu Venue. Its thatch rooftop is the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere and the hall provides room to seat up to 350 guests.  A generous gallery at the end of the building completes its uniqueness – a space with limitless purposes:  it could be a stage for an orchestra or give the youngest wedding guests their own playground „on top of the reception“. Built out of stone, wood and thatch, this great hall integrates itself wonderfully into the surrounding ancient sand forest, and is a splendid reflection of African construction, a real mixture of traditional and modern architecture. Long glass doors stretch on both sides of the venue and, opened up, give this indoor facility an outdoor flair. At weddings guests can be in and outside on the open terrace, and enjoy the spectacular view into bush and wildlife. The flames of the bonfire from the great fire place at the end of the terrace draw an unrivalled picture of African charm on the faces of the guests grouping around it.

The Ndlovu Venue is perfect for great wedding receptions but also for a smaller group of guests (from 30 up to 350 guests). It is situated in the heart of the La-Lapanzi Lodge. Therefore the ceremony and welcome drinks could be on the Palm island and viewing deck.
