Joubert-Tradauw Wingerde en Kelder, in the beautiful Tradouw Valley, just before Barrydale on the R62 route;is passionately focused on producing classic, elegant, hand-crafted wines to be enjoyed with good food. The grapes are picked and selected by hand and the wines are all naturally fermented, unfiltered and matured for over a year in Burgundy French oak barrels. Joubert-Tradauw wines are more old-world style than new and are complex, thinly layered and finely structured with layer-uponlayer aromas. Meyer uses traditional methods and believes in little intervention in the boutique cellar, with a strong emphasis on good viticulture practices. All wines are made in a classical style. To ensure quality in sufficient quantities, Joubert-Tradauw produces wines under two separate and distinct labels, namely: Joubert-Tradauw and Unplugged 62.
• Joubert-Tradauw barrelfermented
Chardonnay
• Joubert-Tradauw Syrah
• Joubert-Tradauw ‘R62
• Cabernet Sauvignon
To add to the wine experience, Joubert-Tradauw boasts the muchloved R62 Alfresco Deli, which specialises in Klein Karoo tapas. Once a humble, tin-roofed dwelling, the Deli has been transformed into a Mediterraneanstyle farm kitchen with rustic décor and an inside fireplace. Guests can dine outdoors, weather permitting, in true al fresco style under the vine-covered veranda (afdak), overlooking the farm, the majestic Tradouw Valley and the Langeberge. The Alfresco Deli is renowned for its platters, which include Klein Karoo tapas comprising fruits from the farm such as fresh figs, nectarines, kakemas peaches, plums and pears served with cranberries, nuts, sunflower seeds and mint; rosemary, sage and lemon stuffed baby chicken; a small bobotie with onion relish, stewed fruit and almonds and sambals; patat with orange and honey; beetroot with feta and herbs; tzatsiki with pumpkin seeds, home-baked breads stuffed with olives and nutty seed loaves browned with molasses. Homemade offerings include tapenade, onion relish, balsamic reduction, fig paté, pesto, fragrant apricot jam and tomato chilli jam. The to-die-for dark french chocolate cake is served with a luscious green fig. My favourite is a delicate lemon-meringue cheesecake with a cranberry jus. Joubert-tradauw Wingerde en Kelder, hosts unique weddings in the beautiful ambience of the Alfresco Deli and boutique cellar Pre-drinks and finger platters are served on the island outside the cellar. A cash bar and chill area are set up in the wooden shed.
A bedouin tent covers the area between the stone cellar and wooden shed, serving as an entertainment and dance area,
all with a constant and beautiful view of the majestic Langeberge, green fields and the magic of the Tradouw Valley. As it is an outside venue, a bedouin tent is available in a choice of eight possible options including size and colour. This can be hired from us at a very low venue fee and two lucky couples can stand a chance of winning a 25% discount as well. A beautiful, historic church is available in Barrydale, or the ceremony can take place in the beautiful gardens overlooking the cellar.
